Itinerary

The Perth to Exmouth 7-day tour begins in Perth at 7:25 am and heads north along the coast towards the scenic Indian Ocean coastline. During the tour, there will be a guided walk through the rock formations of the Pinnacles Desert. Later in the evening, the journey will continue through Geraldton before reaching the destination of Kalbarri for the night.

  • Meals available are lunch and dinner.
  • Accommodation provided is at Kalbarri Backpackers YHA, with dorm-style rooms and shared bathroom facilities.
  • The driving distance for this trip is 575km.
  • The hike distance is 2km with a Grade 1-2 difficulty level.

Today, explore the impressive Kalbarri National Park. See Nature’s Window, a breathtaking rock formation. Hike the Z Bend trail to witness the stunning views of Murchinson Gorge in Kalbarri National Park. In the afternoon, head to Shark Bay and visit a beach with white cockle shells. Tonight, accommodation will be in Monkey Mia.

  • The meals provided are breakfast and dinner.
  • The accommodation is at RAC Monkey Mia Resort Backpacker Dorms or similar, with shared bathroom facilities. There is an option to participate in Kalbarri Abseiling at Z-Bend.
  • The driving distance is 450km. The hike distance is 3km, with a grade of 3-4.

You can start the day with an adventure by abseiling down the gorge walls in Kalbarri National Park with Kalbarri Abesil. There is no need for previous experience as full training will be provided on-site. All equipment will be provided as well. Guests who are not participating can take photos for you, and you can also get pictures on your camera. This adventure can be organized while on tour.

This morning, you will witness an iconic wildlife experience in Australia. Watch the Monkey Mia Dolphins swim to shore and be hand-fed in shallow water. Take some time to relax on the stunning coastline before visiting the Stromatolites. These rock formations are made by a single-celled microbe and are believed to be 3.7 billion years old. They are still alive today. Tonight, you will travel to Coral Bay and spend the night on the edge of the Ningaloo Reef.

  • The driving distance is 580km, and the hike distance is 2km with a Grade 1 difficulty level.

Explore the Ningaloo Reef in Coral Bay. Snorkel the colourful reefs near the shore. Join a snorkel or dive tour to see offshore reefs. Relax on the beach and enjoy the sun.

  • Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Accommodation is at Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. Guests can swim with Manta Rays, snorkel Ningaloo Reef, and take glass-bottom boat tours. Please note that guests cannot book Whaleshark Swims on this day as they return after the bus has left Coral Bay.
  • The driving distance for the day is 155km, with a Grade 1 difficulty level.

Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)

Visitors can swim with Manta Rays on the Ningaloo Reef through Coral Bay Ecotours, but snorkelling is limited to competent swimmers only.

Coral Bay Ecotours offers a 5-6 hour tour of the Ningaloo Reef. The tour includes all necessary equipment, such as a wetsuit if needed, and provides morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch of cold meats and salads. During the tour, you’ll witness manta rays swimming in the water and enjoy two snorkelling sessions where you can see beautiful fish, corals, and possibly sea turtles and reef sharks. The tour also includes visiting the turtle sanctuary, where you can observe turtles coming up for a breath in the shallows.

Experience a Glass Bottom Boat tour on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours.

Take a tour of the Ninglaoo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours. They offer a glass bottom boat experience where you can see tropical and temperate fish and corals. You can have a 1, 2, or 3-hour journey. The 1 hour is just a glass viewing. The 2-hour trip includes a glass viewing and a snorkel site. The 3-hour trip includes glass viewing, snorkelling, and visiting the turtle sanctuary. You can see turtles feeding and coming up for air in the shallows at the turtle sanctuary. The skipper can even try to get the turtles under the glass for you. Snorkel tours provide equipment.

Whaleshark Swims cannot be booked on [day 4] since they return after the bus departs from Coral Bay. All optional activities in Coral Bay must be completed by 3:45-4:00 pm. 

Today, you will visit Cape Range National Park. You will see stunning limestone ranges, deep canyons, and pristine beaches stretching 50km. You can visit Turquoise Bay and Vlamingh Head Lighthouse during the tour and relax at the Milyering Visitors Center. The tour will conclude in the late afternoon, making it a breathtaking end to your Perth to Exmouth tour.

  • The accommodation is Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms, with shared bathroom facilities. Going Whaleshark or Humpback swimming offers options, but pre-booking is required.
  • The driving distance is 135km, and the hiking distance is 1km, with a Grade 1-2 difficulty level.

Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)

The Exmouth Dive Centre offers the opportunity to swim with Whalesharks and Humpback Whales during the seasonal period from March to August. Please note that this activity is limited to competent swimmers and is only available for snorkelling.

Experience an unforgettable day on the water with Exmouth Dive Centre. Start with a reef snorkel to enjoy the coral gardens and fish, maybe even spot turtles and reef sharks. Then, they’ll search for humpback whales and whale sharks with a spotter plane. The humpback whale swim depends on their willingness to participate, and if they’re uncooperative, the plane will find another group. All equipment, including wetsuits if needed, is provided. Morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch are also included.

You will begin your road trip back to Perth today. It will be a long drive because you have a lot of kilometres to cover. We will keep you entertained along the way. Before reaching the final overnight destination in Geraldton, the group will have their final dinner together at The Murchison Tavern. After a long day of driving, discounted meals are available at guests’ expense.

The itinerary includes breakfast and lunch, accommodation at Geraldton Accommodation Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities, and a driving distance of 785km.

Experience the HMAS Sydney Memorial in Geraldton. Enjoy stunning views while walking along the three-bay walk at Green Head. Explore the dunes of Lancelin and even try climbing them for some adventure. Return to Perth in the late afternoon. Relax on the bus and enjoy the scenic countryside before heading towards Perth. Drop-off starts around 6:00 pm. The itinerary includes breakfast, a drive of 465km, and a hike of 1km with a difficulty level of 1-3. We may modify tour routes or itinerary schedules due to seasonal weather changes, park closures, or operational requirements.
