Description of a day trip from Darwin to Litchfield
Litchfield National Park is located about an hour’s drive from Darwin City and is a renowned attraction with stunning natural landscapes, lush rainforests, beautiful waterfalls, and pristine plunge pools.
During the tour, there will be a stop at the Adelaide River, where visitors can participate in the Jumping Crocodile Cruise or visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre. This area is managed by the Limilngan-Wulna people and is home to various wildlife, including native birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles.
We visit century-old monolithic Magnetic Termite Mounds, some of the largest in the Top End. Additionally, we take a break to relax and swim in Litchfield’s beautiful natural plunge pools, spas, and whirlpools at Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls.
We can visit Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls, both stunning cascades carved into steep rocky escarpments, and marvel at their beauty and magnificence.
After a day of relaxation and adventure in the tropical water wonderland, we returned to Darwin feeling rejuvenated.

Fogg Dam Conservation Centre
The reserve managed by the Limilngan-Wulna People is home to diverse freshwater wildlife. It offers a unique opportunity to observe the wetlands and learn about the significance of the Adelaide River floodplains to native and migratory species.
Visitors can join their guide for a scenic walk through the pristine habitat. There are many chances to spot rare birds, water pythons, and freshwater turtles. Crocodiles are also likely to be seen in this wetland system.
Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls
The Tabletop Range in this location creates beautiful tropical waterfalls. Visitors can walk down the 160 steps to the swimming hole at Florence Falls or admire Tolmer Falls from the lookout above.
The monsoon rainforest provides a unique tropical environment with a scenic walk and stunning views of its lush natural surroundings.

The Buley Rockholes, located in a scenic bushland setting, provide multiple levels for swimming and relaxation. The waters here are immaculate and offer a spa-like experience, with the option of using the faster-flowing cascades for a massage.
Another option is to visit the well-known plunge pool at the base of Wangi Falls in the national park. This picturesque swimming spot is surrounded by stunning natural scenery and will provide a refreshing break on our journey.

Jumping Crocs Tour Weather
The weather conditions in the Top End can fluctuate rapidly and be quite intense at times. Temperatures can soar to over 40+ degrees Celsius in the dry season and drop dramatically in the evening. Before your journey, we recommend checking the average temperatures for the time of year you’re travelling and packing suitable clothing. In the case of rain or harsh weather, expect your tour to go ahead unless otherwise advised by the provider.

Occasionally, parks close or do not allow swimming. Safety is always our top priority. Therefore, we plan accordingly to ensure our guests have the best experience possible whilst on tour with us.

- Child fares apply to children between 6 to 12 years old. Due to the activities involved, this tour is unsuitable for children five years old and under.
