Darwin Croc Tour in Adelaide River
Experience one of Darwin’s most renowned tourist attractions, a half-day Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River, where you can observe some of the world’s most dangerous and aggressive predators in their natural habitat.
From Darwin city, we travel approximately 60km southeast to reach the Marrakai wetlands, known for its diverse range of native birds and reptiles, including saltwater crocodiles.
Australia’s Top End is inhabited by over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles, primarily around Darwin, Mary River, and Adelaide River. Consequently, visitors will have ample opportunities to observe them in the naturally occurring waterways of the Northern Territory.
The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile in the world. It is also one of the oldest living creatures on the planet, dating back to the dinosaur age. These creatures can grow up to 6 meters long and weigh around 1000kg. One crocodile, known as ‘Sweetheart’, gained notoriety for chewing motors off fishermen’s boats and stealing cows from farmers. Sweetheart was captured near the Adelaide River but unfortunately died in 1979. However, Sweetheart’s body has been preserved in the Darwin Museum.
Our staff are provided with Wildlife Permits by National Parks and Wildlife to guarantee the safety and well-being of animals during our interactions with them.
